Routes and what to confirm
- Routes
- Set by the operator. Ask whether your address is covered and where the pickup and drop-off points are
- School holidays
- Usually no service on school holidays. Confirm with the operator if your child attends student care in the holidays
- Months billed
- Nine, not twelve. Under MOE's standard bus contract June, November and December are not billed, and the bus still runs on school days
- To cancel
- At least two months' notice in writing. Operators often ask for two months' fees instead of notice
- Distance
- Operators are contractually required to serve pupils within 4km of the school. Beyond that, ask
- Timing
- The contract fixes the latest arrival at school, not the time the bus reaches your block
Bus arrangements can change when the school's bus agreement is renewed, so re-confirm the route and fare each year even if nothing seems different. Terms that do not vary between schools, including LTA's seating and attendant rules.
